Zips Football Picked Fourth in the MAC East

CANTON, Ohio— The Akron Zips have been tabbed to finish fourth in the East Division in the 2017 Mid-American Conference Football Preseason Poll by members of the MAC media, the league announced on Wednesday prior to its annual Football Media Day at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Akron earned 79 points. Defending East champion Ohio was picked first, followed by Miami and Bowling Green. Akron, Buffalo, and Kent State rounded out the picks.
In the West Division, Toledo was selected first, followed by Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, and Ball State rounded out the predictions.
The Toledo Rockets were also predicted to win the 2017 MAC Championship Game which will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Ford Field in Detroit.
The Akron Zips, under the guidance of sixth-year head coach Terry Bowden, return 57 letterwinners, including 15 starters, to its spread offense and 4-3 defense. The Zips open the 2017 season at Penn State on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Noon on ABC. In the home opener, Akron hosts Arkansas Pine Bluff on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN3.

Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street, near Gate 1 at the southwest corner of the venue, at the corner of E. Exchange and S. Union streets) during business hours (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Group tickets start at $10 each (with a minimum of 15 people).
