Kirian Named Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week

AKRON, Ohio – Akron junior outfielder Taylor Kirian (New Riegel, Ohio) was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by the University of Akron, on Monday.
Last week, Kirian helped the Zips to four consecutive road wins. At the plate, she batted .321 with five hits, four RBI, four runs, two double, and a home run. In the 4-2 win at Niagara, Kirian singled and scored the game-winning run. In the first game at Bowling Green, Kirian doubled in the top of the second, bringing UA's first run of the 6-1 victory. She scored the team's final run in the sixth. In the second game of the doubleheader, Kirian scored the game-winning run in the 3-2 win in the top of the fourth with her home run to left field.
With her two doubles on the week, Kirian moved into ninth place on Akron's list for doubles in a season (13).
A starter in all 51 games, Kirian bats .265. She had a team-best 13 doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 23 RBI. She is a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen bases.
Akron closes out the regular season with a three-game series at Miami (Ohio) on May 5-6.
