Zips' Women's Soccer 2017 Schedule Announced

AKRON, Ohio — Third-year head coach Noreen Herlihy announced the 2017 Akron women's soccer schedule on Monday.
The fall slate features 12 home matches, Loyola's tournament, and an exhibition.
"Our schedule this season is, again, very competitive and will challenge us right away," Herlihy said. "The intent is to find out what our strengths and weaknesses are before we get into the most important part of the season which is the MAC. With 14 true freshmen coming in, it will be vital to get them up to speed as soon as possible so as to give ourselves the best possible start. The league is so demanding with so many great teams so we must be at our best and ready to compete."
The Zips travel to Robert Morris on August 13 for an exhibition game.
Akron opens the 2017 season with two home matches, entertaining UW-Milwaukee (Aug. 18) and UW-Green Bay (Aug. 20), at FirstEnergy Stadium- Cub Cadet Field.
UA heads to Chicago for Loyola's tournament, facing DePaul (Aug. 25) and host Loyola (Aug. 27).
The Zips begin a six-game home stand with Cleveland State on August 31. UA then closes out non-conference play with Niagara (Sept. 3), Dayton (Sept. 8), and Duquesne (Sept. 15).
Akron opens Mid-American Conference play at home with Northern Illinois (Sept. 22) and Western Michigan (Sept. 24). The Zips then hit the road for three consecutive MAC matches, visiting Central Michigan (Sept. 29), Eastern Michigan (Oct. 1), and rival Kent State (Oct. 5) for the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge game.
The Zips return home to take on Ohio on Oct. 8 before travelling to Toledo (Oct. 13) and Bowling Green (Oct. 15).
UA closes the regular-season with three hone matches, hosting Miami (Oct. 19), Ball State (Oct. 22), and Buffalo (Oct. 26).
The 2017 MAC Tournament is slated for Oct. 29-Nov. 5 at campus sites.
Women's soccer season tickets are just $40 for general admission. Fans who have 2017 men's soccer season tickets can add a women's Family Plan for just $40 total includes four tickets and a complimentary Zippy's Kids' Club membership for the kids. Discounted season tickets are available for current UA Faculty and Staff at $32. Single-game and group tickets will be available beginning in early August.
Season tickets can be purchased online at GoZips.com/tickets, by calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766), or at the C.P. and Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Invoices for existing women's soccer season ticket holders will be mailed out by the end of April.
