Coney, OL Stephen Ericksen, OL LaVonne Gauthney, P/K Zach Gingerich, WR Kevin Gladney, LS Hayden Grover, S Zach Guiser, LB Andrew Hauser, CB Mikee Hayes, LB Tony Jones, DE Michael Kish, OL Jovann Letuli, OL Cedric McCoy, DE Deon'Tae Moore, RB Manny Morgan, OL Xavier Quigley, WR Austin Wolf, QB Thomas Woodson, and WR Anthony Young.
This is the second five-year graduating class to play under head coach Terry Bowden at Akron. During their collegiate careers, they've been a part of the re-building process, helping the Zips to at least five wins each of the last four seasons. The 2017 seniors may become just the second class to graduate with a winning record in FBS play. They currently stand 24-24 over the last three-plus season [2014: 5-7; 2015: 8-5, 2016: 5-7; 2017: 6-5].
Four of the seniors have already earned their undergraduate degrees and are pursuing master's degrees.
With last week's win over Ohio, the Zips became bowl eligible for the second time in three seasons, a program first. A win over Kent State will give the Zips their third MAC East title and their first since 2005, as well a third consecutive Wagon Wheel victory.
Individually, the Zips have re-written the record books and climbed the career charts while racking up weekly honors. Off the field, they've represented UA in the community with several activities, including game week visits to Akron Children's Hospital. Congratulations, Seniors!
AKRON-KENT STATE CONNECTIONS
The Akron and Kent State campuses are just 11 miles apart.
Redshirt senior WR Tra'Von Chapman (Roosevelt HS) is the only Zip from Kent, Ohio.
Kent State has three players from the city of Akron– redshirt freshman OL Zach Corrigall [St. Vincent-St. Mary HS], sophomore CB Jae'Vante Ray [Ellet HS], and freshman QB Pyrce Taylor [Buchtel HS].
AKRON-KENT STATE:Â THE SERIES
Tuesday night's game is th 60th meeting between Akron and Kent State in series history, which began in 1923. The Zips lead, 33-24-2. Since the coveted wooden Wagon Wheel trophy has been at stake (dating to 1946), Kent State holds a 23-22-1 edge. The Zips are 24-9-2 in the series when playing at home (3-1 at InfoCision Stadium).
In a wild finish at Dix Stadium last fall, the Akron Zips traveled 57 yards with 1:02 left on the clock as TE Mykel Traylor-Bennett ran three yards into the endzone to secure a 31-27 victory over cross-town rival Kent State to keep control of the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel.
The thrilling victory marked the first time since 2004 that Akron won a Mid-American Conference opener on the road (at Kent State, 24-19) and the first win at Dix Stadium since the 30-27 double overtime win in 2008.
After Kent State scored a touchdown to take a 27-24 lead with 1:02 left on the clock, the Zips didn't let the lack of time on the clock phase them, as Akron used four plays to travel 57 yards for what proved to be the game-winning touchdown.
At 2015 at InfoCision Stadium on Black FryeDay, Akron re-claimed the coveted Wagon Wheel with a 20-0 shutout of Kent State. The shutout was the Zips' first over the Golden flashes since 1985 and
first over any team since 1992. Akron held Kent to just 10 yards rushing.
Zips' QB Thomas Woodson went 11-of-19 for 140 yards and a touchdown. In his final home game, senior RB Conor Hundley rushed for 98 yards and touchdown on 22 carries, while WR Jerome Lane had four catches for 75 yards. Defensively, senior LB Jatavis Brown led the Zips with eight tackles
and forced fumble.

BEST MAC START
Opening the 2017 season with three consecutive wins in Mid-American Conference play was a first for Akron. While the Zips had opened MAC play with two wins seven times ['92, 93, 01, 07, 08, 14, 16] since joining the league in 1992, winning three consecutive MAC games to open this season was a first in program history. Â
The win over Ohio gave Akron the tie-breaker for the top spot in the MAC East. A win over Kent State will give Akron the 2017 MAC East title and a spot in the 2017 MAC championship game. Since joining the MAC in 1992, Akron has only won the MAC East twice (2000, 2005). Ua has only played in the MAC Championship game once (2005).
ZIPS EARN BOWL ELIGIBILITY
With the victory over Ohio, the Zips became bowl eligible for the second time in three seasons– a feat that had never been reached in program history. Â
UA, which played in the 1968 Grantland Rice Bowl as a part of the College Division as well as three post-season games in 1976 as a Division II member, has only earned bowl eligibility twice since joining the Football Subdivision (FBS) in 1987. Under Terry Bowden, the Zips won the 2015 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and finished the season with an 8-5 record, the most wins as an FBS participant. Â
LAST GAME
The Akron football team earned bowl eligibility for the second time in three years with a 37-34 win over Ohio on Nov. 14 at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field.
Â
With the win, Akron moved to 6-5 overall and 5-2 in Mid-American Conference play. In addition, the Zips are one win away from securing the MAC East title for the first time since 2005.
Â
Redshirt freshman QB Kato Nelson and junior WR Kwadarrius Smith (Orlando, Fla.) led the Zips' offense with career-high numbers. Nelson tossed a career-best 322 yards in the air with a career-high four touchdowns, while Smith led the receiving corps with 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Seniors WR A.J. Coney (Orlando, Fla.) and WR Austin Wolf (Lebanon, Ohio) also added touchdown receptions.
Â
Senior RB Manny Morgan led the ground attack 55 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries, while Nelson followed with 45 yards on 14 rushes.
Â
Defensively, the Zips picked-off two passes, while junior LB Ulysees Gilbert III paced the defense with 11 tackles.
