AKRON – The University of Akron will host its annual men's and women's Basketball Media Day, in conjunction with the Northeast Ohio Coaches vs. Cancer Media Day, presented by the Wentz Financial Group, on Monday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m.

The 2017 media day line-up includes the Akron Zips men's and women's basketball programs, as well as, the men's basketball programs from Cleveland State, Kent State, and Youngstown State.

The five-team showcase is free and open to the public. The event will be located on the upper level of James A. Rhodes Arena and streamed live on ESPN3/WatchESPN. Fans will have an opportunity to ask questions both in-person and with social media. To submit a question via Twitter, please use the hashtag #AsktheZips.

Zips' 12th year head coach Jodi Kest will be accompanied by seniors Greta Burry, Lauren Hung, and junior Megan Sefcik to discuss the UA women's basketball 2017-18 season outlook.

Three out of four of the men's basketball programs are under new leadership for 2017-18 as UA's John Groce, CSU's Dennis Felton, and YSU's Jerrod Calhoun enter their first seasons with each program. Also joining the panel is Kent State's seventh-year head coach Rob Senderoff.

The American Cancer Society will announce that the Akron, Cleveland State, Kent State, and Youngstown State have teamed up in support of Coaches vs. Cancer. This portion of the media day will start with the four regional coaches talking about the doubleheader to start their seasons and raise awareness for cancer.Â

After the Coaches vs. Cancer panel, each head coach and their selected players will take center stage for a question and answer session.

For Akron, senior Malcolm Duvivier, senior Craig Eubanks, junior Jimond Ivey, and junior Daniel Utomi are scheduled to join Coach Groce to talk about this season's expectations.

CSU's Coach Felton will have three players in attendance as senior Anthony Wright, senior Derek Sloan, and junior Dontel Highsmith talk about the Vikings' upcoming season.
Â
Kent State's senior Kevin Zabo, senior Desmond Ridenour, junior Jalen Avery, junior Jaylin Walker are scheduled to join Coach Senderoff.

Cancer has touched many in the coaching ranks, and the Coaches vs. Cancer program provides coaches with an opportunity to do something about the disease. Through integrated fundraising activities and public awareness campaigns, the coaches are positively impacting the American Cancer Society's community and national presence. Since 1993, coaches around the country have raised over $100 million for the American Cancer Society. 2017 marks the third year these four basketball programs have hosted doubleheaders for the program.

Season tickets are now on sale for the 2017-18 campaign, with ticket packages starting at $60 for General Admission to $810/seat for midcourt.

Also available is a $175 Alumni All sport plan that includes season tickets for all of our ticketed sports (MBB, WBB, volleyball, football, men's soccer, and women's soccer).

Akron faculty and staff may purchase Upper Reserved season tickets for $175 and Lower Reserved for $260 plus applicable donation. The Zips also offer a family plan allowing two adults and two children season tickets for $210.

Another option is the All-Access 10-pack available for $100 that allows fans 10-undated vouchers which can be redeemed for 10 general admission tickets for any of Akron's ticketed sporting events.
