Weather Delays/Postpones first Round, Zips Eighth after 18 Holes

Zionsville, Ind. – Inclement weather delayed the start of the Zips season opener at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate on Saturday, Sept. 10. As a result the tournament was reduced t to a pair of 18-hole rounds as the Zips finished the initial 18 holes with a 297 (+13) and eighth place overall.
Sophomore Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) led the scoring for the Zips, cading a 1-over 72 round with 13 even-par scores, three bogeys, and a pair of birdies. Grayson currently, sits tied for 13th overall as the leader, Purdue's Brian Carlson, posted a 3-under 68 score for the lead, followed by four tied at 69 (-2), five tied at 70 (-1), and two even 71 efforts.
Following Grayson in scoring was senior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.). He posted 12 even-par scores, two birdies, three bgeys, and a double for a 3-over 74 performance, while junior George Baylis (Ascot, England) turned in a 75 (+4) score and recording a 76 (+5) was senior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, France).
Sophomore Jacob Appleby (North Canton, Ohio) rounded out the team scoring, carding a 79 (+8) tally in his first showing as a Zip.
No. 41 ranked Purdue leads the overall team scoring with a 7-under 277 team score, while No. 2 Illinois and No. 26 Kentucky share the second spot with 288 (+4) marks. No. 61 North Texas, No. 97 UCF and host Indiana fill out the top six slots with 291 (+7) scores.
The final 18-hole round will be played on Sunday, Sept 11, beginning at 8:30 a.m. from holes No. 1 and 10. The Zips are schedule to tee off on No.1 in 10-minute increments, starting with Appleby at 8:30 a.m., (T64, +8), Pfeiffer (T40, +4), Baylis (T34, +4), Williams (T25, +3), and Grayson (T13, +1).
