Crichlow and Mosier Lead Akron at MAC Cross Country Championships

KENT, Ohio - University of Akron junior Garrett Crichlow (Twinsburg, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore Elizabeth Mosier (Austintown, Ohio) headlined the efforts of the Zips' men's and women's cross country squads on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships held at the Kent State University Golf Course.
The duo's performances led Akron to picking up valuable points in the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge as both teams bettered their cross-town rival Golden Flashes in the respective team standings. The Zips' men's team placed sixth, while the women finished 11th. Eastern Michigan captured both the men's and women's team titles, respectively.
Crichlow was the first non-Eastern Michigan runner to finish the 8K course in the men's race sprinting past the line in 25:30.0 to finish sixth. By virtue of his sixth-place effort, Crichlow garnered first-team All-MAC honors.
In the women's 6K race, Mosier cover the course in 22:52.8 to earn a 44th-place finish.
Sophomore Joe Rossetti (Stow, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Tevin Brown (Toledo, Ohio) were next across the finish for the Zips' men's team registering times of 26:16.7 and 26:21.6 to place 29th and 31st, respectively.
Rounding out Akron's scoring efforts were senior Dan Zupan (26:29.0/36th) and junior Eric McCabe (26:44.9/42nd).
Also competing for the Zips in the league championship was redshirt freshman Nick Campbell (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) (27:10.0/49th), freshmen Nick Stricklen (Lexington, Ohio) (27:12.3/50th) and Samuel Blechman (Bradford Woods, Ohio) (27:20.1/53rd) and senior Martin Zegarelli (Erie, Pa.) (28:50.6/75th)
Redshirt freshman Mackenzie Andrews (Toowoomba, Australia) and freshman Haley Hess (Curtice, Ohio) followed Mosier across the finish line for the Zips' women's squad recording times of 22:57.6 (50th) and 23:13.5 (65th).
Completing Akron's scoring runners was senior Natalie Zidd (Hinckley, Ohio) (23:27.6/74th) and freshman Hannah Pineault (Morgantown, W. Va.) (23:32.0/78th).
Also racing for the Zips in the championship was sophomores Morgan Buckley (Warren, Ohio) (24:17.0/91st) and Tarike Osuobeni (Columbus, Ohio) (24:40.2/97th) and redshirt juniors Alexandra Blair (Akron, Ohio) (24:53.3/99th) and Sarah Kupniewski (Erie, Pa.) (24:58.3/100th).
Both Zips' squads return to competition at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 11 in Madison, Wis.
