AKRON, Ohio — Two University of Akron softball student-athletes have been honored on the College Sports Madness 2015 Preseason Mid-American All-Conference teams.
Junior pitcher Erin Seiler (Bowling Green, Ohio) was named the preseason Pitcher of the Year and a first-team All-MAC honoree, while senior second baseman Kellie Roudabush (Hilliard, Ohio) was named a second-team All-MAC selection.
Last spring as a sophomore, Seiler earned MAC Pitcher of the Year accolades as well as first-team All-MAC and second-team NFCA honors. She finished the season with a 20-9 overall record and a 1.88 ERA and garnered the lowest ERA in MAC play during the regular season. Seiler struck out a school record 219 batters.
Roudabush, who has started every game of her collegiate career, earned second-team All-MAC honors and the Coaches' Award in 2014. The team's top returning batter, she hit .345 with 19 RBI and seven doubles last season while helping the Zips to a MAC Tournament appearance.
Akron, under ninth-year head coach Julie Jones, opens the 2015 slate on Friday as the Zips travel to Deland, Fla., for Stetson's Lead-Off Classic on Feb. 6-8 with games against Michigan State, Morehead State, Rhode Island, and host Stetson.
