Akron Punter Paul Named Ray Guy Award Candidate

AUGUSTA, Ga.— University of Akron senior punter Zach Paul (Broadview Heights, Ohio) is one of 79 players nationally named as nominees for the 2015 Ray Guy Award as the nation's top collegiate punter, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Friday.
A 2015 preseason All-MAC honoree by Athlon Sports, Paul is a two-time All-MAC selection, earning second-team honors last fall. In seven games this season, Paul has punted 41 times for 1,636 yards (39.9 average), including seven longer than 50 yards. He punted 12 times at No. 19 Oklahoma for 557 yards (46.4 avg.) with four landing inside the 20, all career bests. His long was 73 yards. Paul was named to the Ray Guy Watch List in 2013 and 2014.
The list will be narrowed to ten semifinalists to be announced on November 13. Following the semifinalists announcement, a national body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, coaches, media representatives, and previous Ray Guy Award winners will vote for the top three finalists, who will be identified on November 23. The voting body will then cast ballots to select the winner.
The presentation of the Ray Guy Award will be featured live on ESPN during The Home Depot College Football Awards, Thursday, Dec.10, at 7 p.m.
The Akron Zips, under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Terry Bowden, host Central Michigan on October 31 at 2 p.m. at InfoCision Stadium- Summa Field. All fans aged 10 and under (in costume) will get FREE admission with a paying adult. Additional family members will be able to purchase $10 tickets.
The Zips' Athletics teams will provide a safe, in-stadium trick-or-treat for the children (beginning at 1 p.m.). There will also be a costume parade and contest for the little ones. All fans are invited to wear their Hall-ROO-ween costumes to the game. However, no masks or weapons will be allowed.
Additionally, the Zips will celebrate Military Appreciation Day. Active and retired military members can get one (1) FREE ticket on game day (or at the ticket office in advance) with their military ID.
Fan can also purchase tickets for $10 to donate to the military members as part of the "Ticket for Troops Program" by calling our ticket office at 1-888-99-AKRON (25766).
Single-game tickets are available for as low as $15 for each of the Zips' remaining home games. Three-game mini plans are also available for $39 for any three games. Special experiences are also available for group outings of 20 or more fans for any home game this season.
