AKRON, Ohio – Ticket sales for tomorrow's Zips Football Kickoff Luncheon have reached capacity. The second-annual event will be held at Quaker Station in downtown Akron, with doors opening at 11 a.m. and a tailgate-themed lunch buffet scheduled to start at noon.
After lunch, second-year Akron head coach Terry Bowden will preview the season, and seniors Jarrod Pughsley and Malachi Freeman also will address the crowd. Veteran Akron-IMG Sports Network radio play-by-play announcer Steve French will host the program.
The players that make up the squad's 105-man training camp roster will be in attendance along with the coaching staff, members of the band and spirit team, and mascot Zippy.
Akron opens the season at UCF on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. on ESPN3. UA's home opener is against James Madison on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m., also on ESPN3.
Season and single-game tickets as well as mini-plans are on sale, and can be purchased online anytime at ZipsTickets.com, or from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays by either calling 1-888-99-AKRON (25766) or visiting The C.P. and Cornelia S.
