AKRON, Ohio – The Zips football team practiced in full pads for just over two and a half hours on Thursday morning inside Stile Athletics Field House. The last hour of the sixth workout of spring camp featured a scrimmage.
UA head coach Terry Bowden highlighted the play of the defense, which caused several turnovers during the scrimmage, in his post-practice visit with the media.
Thursday was the sixth of 15 NCAA-regulated spring practices. The Zips will hold their annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 27 at 1 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field. Akron opens the 2013 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 29 at UCF. The team's home opener is on Saturday, Sept. 7 against James Madison.
Zips Notebook: The squad has a day off from practice on Friday, returning to the field on Saturday morning for a scrimmage ... the team will hold a youth clinic at 11 a.m. ET on April 27 prior to the Spring Game ... the program will also host an Alumni Reunion during the weekend of the Spring Game.
