Women's Golf Concludes Wolverine Invitational in Ninth Place

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The University of Akron women's golf team finished the weather-plagued Wolverine Invitational in ninth place following the final round on Sunday.
Poor weather conditions, including rain and cold temperatures, hampered play all weekend on a very tough course. Tournament-host Michigan and Florida International shared the team medalist honors with final score of 930 (+78). The Zips used a round of 323 (+39) to finish with a total score of 981 (+129).
Laura Murray led the way for the Zips, finishing tied for 38th place with a score of 244 (+31) following a final-round 80 (+9). Sara Chaves and Hanna Ek concluded the weekend in a group tied for 41st place (246, +33). Ek fired a round of 78 (+7) while Chaves posted a score of 85 (+14).
Frida Fougberg posted her second-consecutive round of 9-over 80 to finish tied for 54th place with a three-round total of 250 (+37) while Sierra Everson concluded the event tied for 75th (259, +46).
Tyler Etcheberry, playing as an individual, closed out play tied for 67th place with a score of 256 (+43) following a round of 83 (+12).
The schedule doesn't get any easier for the Zips as they will have just five days off before opening play at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Sept. 28.
