Women's Golf Battles Poor Weather at Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Poor weather conditions, including rain and cool temperatures, kept low scoring numbers far and few between as The University of Akron women's golf team finished day one of the Wolverine Invitational in eighth place on Saturday.
The poor conditions forced tournament-host Michigan to end live scoring during the middle of the second round. The Wolverines own the lead (616, +48) while the Zips finished with a two-round total of 658 (+90).
Sara Chaves led the Zips on Saturday, finishing the day tied for 27th place (161, +17) following rounds of 5-over 77 and 12-over 84. Laura Murray is three shots back (164, +20) in a tie for 35th place. Murray finished the day with a 79 (+7) and an 85 (+13).
Hanna Ek posted rounds of 86 (+14) and 82 (+10) to close out play in a tie for 54th place (168, +24) while Frida Fougberg and Sierra Everson are both tied for 59th place (170, +26). Fougberg posted rounds of 90 (+18) and 80 (+8), while Everson finished with scores of 88 (+16) and 82 (+10).
Tyler Etcheberry, playing as an individual, is tied for 69th place (173, +29) following her rounds of 84 (+12) and 89 (+17).
The final round is set for a shotgun start tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. ET and all of the action can be followed via Golfstat Live Scoring.
