Women's Golf Leads MAC Preview with 18 Holes Remaining

NASHPORT, Ohio – For the second-consecutive season, The University of Akron women's golf team will duke it out for the team title at the Mid-American Conference Fall Preview after posting the top team round on Monday.
The Zips, who lost in a playoff at last year's conference preview, posted a round of 26-over 314 and holds a one-stroke lead over Bowling Green and Ball State.
Redshirt senior Hanna Ek, who won the event in 2010, holds a three-shot lead after posting a round of 1-under 71. Ek was the only golfer on the course to post a round at even-par or better.
Freshman and fellow Swede Frida Fougberg is tied for 10th place following a round of 78 (+6). Junior Sara Chaves joined Ek and Fougberg in the top 25, finishing the day tied for 19th (80, +8).
Freshman Laura Murray and junior Whitney Graff are tied for 56th place after posting identical rounds of 85 (+13).
Freshman Sierra Everson, playing as an individual, is tied for 15th place thanks to a round of 7-over 79.
Ek and the Zips look to capture their first team title of the season when they begin the final round on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET.
