Softball Featured in “Together” Collegiate Charity Classic

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron softball team will participate in the annual "Together" Against Breast Cancer College Tournament, conducted by the Akron Racers Charities, on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Firestone Stadium. Beginning at 9 a.m. ET, seven colleges will take part in a day-long set of nine games to raise funds for the Muffins for Mammogram program. The highlight of the day will be the 5 p.m. contest featuring the Zips battling Bethany College.
The price of admission for the entire day is $5 for adults, $2 for students and $1 for children 12 & under. Various pink items will be on sale throughout the day, including the signature "Together" t-shirt for just $15.
All proceeds from this event will benefit Akron Racers Charities' on-going commitment to the fight against breast cancer. The final check for the entire "Together" campaign will be presented at the annual WQMX Bosom Buddies dinner, concert and auction October 20th at Tangier. For ticket information, check out wqmx.com.
To wrap up the weekend, Akron will take on Mid-American Conference rival Kent State on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 3:30 p.m. at UA's Lee Jackson Field. Admission is free, so come out and support the Zips!
