Rhodes Arena Renovations Beginning to Take Shape
May 27 | Women's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio - Construction inside James A. Rhodes Arena continues to more forward as crews begin to frame and drywall two team lounges for the University of Akron men's and women's basketball teams at the close of the third week of the project. Following the demolition of several classrooms over the past three weeks, the two lounges began to take shape as crews began hanging drywall this week after framing and wiring both rooms.
Demolition of the classrooms that will make up the 1,650-square-foot strength-training room has also taken place.
The two team lounges will be symmetrical and feature state-of the-art technology, including multi-screen audio/visual equipment for practice and game video analysis, and opponent scouting. The video systems, designed specifically to meet the needs of the Akron basketball programs, will be synchronized with equipment located in the existing coaching staffs' offices to maximize efficiency in video study and game preparation.
The project is scheduled to conclude in late-July.
