Women's Golf Continues Spring Slate in Indiana

The University of Akron women's golf team, fresh off a two-week break, continues its spring schedule as the Zips head to the 2011 Indiana Invitational April 4-5 at the Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ind.
The Zips have not competed since their sixth-place finish at the Lumberjack Shootout at Wigwam on March 16. The Indiana Invitational will be the next-to-last tournament for Akron before hosting the Mid-American Conference Championship event beginning April 22.
Joining Akron on the par-72, 6,222-yard layout will be: Ball State, Bradley, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Illinois State, No. 63 Illinois, No. 67 Indiana, IUPUI, Kansas State, No. 35 Louisville, No. 58 Michigan, Oakland, No. 54 Wisconsin and No. 82 Western Michigan. The Zips enter the event ranked 105th in the Golfstat rankings.
Last time out, the Zips broke several school records en route to a sixth-place finish at the 14-team Lumberjack Shootout in Litchfield Park, Ariz. After tying the school mark for the lowest team round (296) during the second round on March 14, Akron set a new program mark for the lowest team round (293) during the final round on March 15, leading to a new program low three-round tournament score (891). UA broke the previous three-round team mark by 19 strokes.
Junior Kristen Hill continued her strong play, carding a round of 2-under 70 to finish tied for third place with a tournament score of even-par 216, one shot off her own school record of 215. She has posted top-five finishes in all three events and has posted a score of 73 or better in six of nine rounds this spring.
Play will begin on Monday with 36 holes on tap beginning at 9 a.m. ET followed by the final round on Tuesday, also slated for a 9 a.m. ET start. All rounds will begin with a shotgun start. Golfstat live scoring will be available at GoZips.com.
