Softball Preps For Non-League Doubleheader

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron softball team will travel to Coriopolis, Pa. Tuesday for a non-league doubleheader against Robert Morris University. The first pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.

Akron is coming off a 2-2 weekend against Mid-American Conference opponents. The Zips swept the Buffalo Bulls on Friday but fell to the Kent State Golden Flashes on Saturday and Sunday.

During Friday play, the Zips saw their third extra inning game of the season in the first contest, grabbing the 3-0 eight inning victory. In the second game, Akron dominated winning 8-1. Saturday's contest against rival Kent State proved to be a heart breaker as UA fell 3-2 followed by a 5-1 loss on Sunday.

Robert Morris, a member school of the Northeast Conference, is 18-15 on the year and 6-3 in league play. The Zips faced the Colonials in 2008 (April 10) falling 4-3 and 8-0.
