Softball Readies for Nine Game Homestand

Akron, Ohio-The University of Akron Zips softball team will begin a nine game homestand Friday with a doubleheader against Western Michigan beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Lee R. Jackson Field.
The Broncos come to Akron with a 14-14 overall record and 6-6
Mid-American Conference record. Most recently they are coming off
two losses to Bowling Green State University both by the score of
1-2.
UA will continue their homestand this weekend when they host the
Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday at
1:00 p.m. NIU will face Ohio University in a doubleheader on Friday
before coming to Akron. They go into Athens, Ohio with an 11-23
overall record and are 5-7 in the league. Last weekend the Huskies
went 1-1 in Toledo losing the first game, 0-4, but winning the
second, 8-4.
After having mid-week off last week the Zips were scheduled to
play the University of Dayton last Wednesday (April 23) at 3:00
p.m. in a doubleheader, however, due to a scheduling conflict with
the Flyers, the series was cancelled.
Akron played their last contest last weekend in Michigan where they
went 1-1 against both Eastern and Central Michigan. Versus EMU, the
Zips won the first game, 7-3, but lost the second, 1-7. At CMU, the
Zips were shutout in the first contest, 0-5, but rebounded winning
the second, 5-3, at Margo Jonker Stadium.
