Football Teams Up With the Haven Of Rest
November 15 | Football
University of Akron football fans can purchase a discounted
ticket to the regular-season finale vs. Western Michigan on Friday,
Nov. 24 and help support the Giant Eagle Holiday Food Drive.
Fans wishing to attend the Akron-Western Michigan game, which is
being sponsored by Giant Eagle, can donate any non-perishable food
item and receive a general admission ticket, normally priced at
$12, for just $5. The donated food will benefit the Haven of
Rest.
Donations can be made while purchasing tickets at the Rhodes Arena
Ticket Office which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through
Friday, or on game day at the Rubber Bowl. Patrons are entitled to
one discounted ticket per donation.
The Akron-Western Michigan game may have Mid-American Conference
East Division implications. The Zips (5-5, 3-3 MAC) play at Ohio
(7-3, 5-1) at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. The Bobcats can claim the MAC
East title with a win, but an Akron victory opens the door for the
Zips to defend their league title and remain in the bowl
picture.
The UA-WMU game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but moved to
3:30 p.m. to accommodate a telecast on ESPNU.
