Sydney Trathen was named a graduate student manager on the Akron volleyball staff prior to the 2018 season.

A recent graduate of Edinboro University, Trathen is a three-time AVCA All-Atlantic Region honoree, three-time PSAC first team selection, and a 2016 Atlantic Region All-Tournament team pick.

In her four seasons, Trathen led her team to a 99-39 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance.

The setter holds three Top 10 career records at Edinboro, along with two single-season assists totals. Trathen concluded her career with 4,578 assists, 507 sets played and 9.03 assists per set.

Not only was Trathen successful on the court, but she was also successful in the classroom. She was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America All-Region II Team and was a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

A native of Cuyahoga Falls, Trathen graduated from Edinboro University with a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences in 2018. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Audiology from Akron.
