Riesenberg comes to Akron from Premier Academy in Toledo and Mintonette Sports in Columbus, where he was a tier trainer and lead coach for two of the nation's top volleyball clubs. Andy worked with all 27 teams every year, helping lead them to 15 nationally qualifying bids in both 2016 and 2017 under USAV.Â
In 2017, he assisted their top 16s team, helping guide them to winning the USAV 16 Open National Championship in Minneapolis, MN. The next year (2018), he stayed at 16s as an assistant to the No. 1-ranked 16 open team in the country. The team finished with a record of 38-3 and runner-up in the USAV 16 Open.Â
Throughout his time in club, Andy has aided countless athletes in their dream to pursue volleyball at the next level. He has helped players get into schools all across the country in NCAA DI, DII, DIII and NAIA. Most recently, he has coached/promoted players that have gone on to play at The Ohio State University, University of Michigan, University of Illinois, Hawaii University, Xavier University, University of Akron, University of Toledo, Miami University (OH), Ohio University, and Western Illinois.Â
 Â
Riesenberg also has spent a lot of time coaching at the college level. Most recently as Head Coach at NCAA Division III program Wilmington College where he led in all aspects of the coaching process: recruiting, practice planning, skills training, scouting, team management, game prep and film. Leading five different athletes to top five finishes in all-time stats records in six of the seven major categories (kills, aces, assists, digs, blocking), and two athletes to single season stats records in both digs and blocking.Â
Â
Prior to Wilmington, Riesenberg made stops at Xavier University (2017) and Ohio University (2015-16). He was part of Ohio's 2015 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament championship team that upset No. 10-ranked University of Kentucky during the regular season. Riesenberg mentored American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First Team All-Region and Honorable Mention All-Region honorees during his time as a Bobcat.Â
From 2012 to 2015, Riesenberg was the Head Coach at Lake Erie College (LEC) in Painesville, Ohio. He led LEC to its best stats in seven years, holding records in the top three spots in every category since the school entered the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). He also guided the team to All-GLIAC Academic Excellence in 2012, 2013 and 2014 with an average grade point average of 3.8. During his tenure in Cleveland, Riesenberg was also the Director of Volleyball for SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio, running the club, individual and team practices, as well as tournaments.Â
Riesenberg started his career as an assistant coach at Wright State University (2009-11) and the University of Southern Indiana (2008-09). He recruited and developed five players who finished in the top 10 in career statistics at Wright State as well as aiding Southern Indiana to a No. 8 ranking in the country in blocks per set (2.43).Â
