Willam “Billy” Zufall was added to the Akron men’s soccer staff as General Manager in July 2026. A longtime fixture in the Northeast Ohio soccer community, Zufall has coached at the club, high school, and professional levels, all while building strong relationships with players, coaches, and clubs across Ohio and the Midwest.
Over Zufall’s coaching career, he served as head coach of both the Highland High School boys' and girls' soccer programs, compiling a combined record of 140-62-21 and leading teams to multiple league and district championships, including a runner up in the 2024 OHSAA state championship with Highland High School girls. Zufall’s programs consistently excelled both on the field and in the classroom, with numerous players advancing to collegiate soccer. His deep connections within Ohio's youth soccer landscape and extensive network of high school, club, and collegiate coaches provide valuable resources for the program. A member of the Copley High School Hall of Fame, Zufall has earned numerous coaching honors and remains highly respected throughout the state's soccer community for his commitment to player development and mentorship.
Prior to coaching, Zufall competed professionally with the Columbus Invaders and Cleveland Caps and was a member of the Columbus Crew organization.
Zufall and his wife Jessica have three children, Vanessa, William IV, and Owen. Zufall is a graduate of Copley High School and the University of Akron.
