as a Freshman (2011): Appeared in seven games, including four starts at left back ... started the first two games of the season against Cleveland State (Aug. 27) and Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 1).
Prior to Akron: Played for the county soccer team and was the team captain at Cansfield High School ... was the North of England 100-meter champion when he was 13 years old ... was also the 200-meter and triple jump silver medalist that year.
Personal: Parents are Keith and Janet Mayer ... has a younger sister, Kathryn (15) ... dad played soccer professionally in England and was the youngest player (15) to play on the reserve team at Bolton Wanderers ... he is now a UEFA A license coach ... mother played soccer for England and competed many major tournaments, winning the world championship twice in 1985 and 1988 ... sister plays plays rounders and field hockey, representing England and the North of England in both sports ... mother's sister played soccer for Wales ... has a cousin who skis for Great Britain ... is an avid rugby fan and once lived in Spain ... intends to study business.
