Devan Morrow enters his sixth season with the Akron Zips men’s basketball program in 2026-27, having been elevated to the role of assistant coach prior to the 2024-25 season following his tenure as a graduate assistant. A Cleveland, Ohio native who attended St. Edward High School, Morrow has quickly distinguished himself as one of the program’s most impactful on-court voices.
In his role as Offensive Coordinator, Morrow has helped engineer one of the MAC’s most efficient and prolific offenses. In 2025-26, the Zips posted an Offensive Efficiency Rating of 118.9, ranking 53rd nationally and first in the MAC with a conference OER of 120.7. That commitment to pace has translated into one of the nation’s fastest-playing programs, with Akron ranking 15th in the country in pace of play in 2024-25 and 38th in 2025-26.
Morrow has proven equally adept at identifying and cultivating talent at every level. Among the players he has helped develop are Enrique Freeman, a second-round selection of the Indiana Pacers in the 2024 NBA Draft; Nate Johnson, who earned both MAC Player of the Year and MAC Defensive Player of the Year honors; and All-MAC selections Xavier Castaneda, Ali Ali, and Greg Tribble.
Before joining the Zips, Morrow served three seasons as a student manager at Ohio State University under head coach Chris Holtman, where he worked alongside future NBA players Duane Washington Jr. and E.J. Liddell. He also gained valuable development experience through an internship with Pure Sweat and trainer Drew Sloan, further sharpening the skill-building expertise he now brings to the Akron program.
