Darin Ford enters his first season on the Zips staff as a graduate assistant. Ford came to Akron after serving as head coach varsity boys basketball coach at Harborfields High School (NY). He spent two years at the helm and led the Tornados to a 29-15 overall record.

Prior to his head coaching debut, Ford was the head student manager at Stony Brook for two seasons, and an assistant coach at Indian River State College, a division I junior college in Fla., where he assisted with recruiting and player development. He also served as a student manager at Bradley University and head coach Peoria Area Elite AAU in Ill.

Ford is the son of Stony Brook head coach Geno Ford and nephew of Akron associate head coach Dustin Ford. He graduated bachelor’s degree in sports management from Stony Brook and is pursuing a master’s degree in sports science at Akron.
