Sophomore (2008): Earned a scholarship during 2008 preseason camp, coming to Akron as a preferred walk-on the previous season ... Played in 12 contests, starting five ... Tied for sixth on the squad in tackles with 63 ... Earned the starting nod at free safety in the season opener at Wisconsin ... Versus the Badgers, logged a game-best 18 tackles, adding a pass breakup ... Had four stops at Syracuse and eight versus Ball State ... Rallied with seven tackles at Army ... One of his stops at Army came in the final moments at the UA one yard line, forcing a fumble, which Miguel Graham recovered, preserving the 22-3 win ... Did not start at Kent State, battling an injury during the week ... Did play at KSU, getting four tackles ... Also came up with a key fumble recovery on a UA punt late in regulation, which led to the Zips final TD and 24-21 lead ... Had six tackles versus Toledo, getting extended action due to an injury to Jalil Carter.
Freshman (2007): Came to the team as a preferred walkon and played in all 12 games as a true freshman ... Served mainly on the special teams ... Did not have any statistics, but was part of the top plays in college football in 2007 as the Zips returned a free kick 89 yards as time expired to defeat Western Michigan, 39-38 ... Campbell made an initial block then sprinted down field to help escort Andre Jones into the endzone.
Prior to Akron: First team All-Ohio Capital Conference as a senior at Pickerington North HS ... Was second team All-OCC as a junior as well as second team All-Central District as a senior ... Rushed for over 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns and caught 13 passes for 650 yards for his career ... Had 62 tackles and two interceptions as a senior while getting 40 stops and five picks as a junior.
