Top-10 Finalists For OC Of The Game To Be Revealed At Meet the Zips Event Wednesday

AKRON, Ohio — Momentum continues to build around The University of Akron department of athletics Offensive Coordinator of the Game promotion for the Zips home opener on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, inside InfoCision Stadium.
The original launch tweet was the most viewed post by a college football team in the summer of 2026, garnering over 25-million views, selling out InfoCision Stadium's suites for the first time ever and generating record new season ticket memberships.
The Zips have partnered with UA's College of Business — Department of Accounting to manage the balloting and selection process for the contest. The Department of Accounting will access athletics ticketing systems, conduct the ticket data analysis, and do an independent selection to ensure a randomized selection for this drawing.
Ten finalists will be announced on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the 2026 Meet the Zips event. Held at House Three-Thirty (532 W. Market Street, Akron, OH 44303), free and open to the public, the event features networking with UA coaches, staff and student-athletes and a cash bar. An open invitation is extended to all fans to come to House Three-Thirty at 5:00pm onwards to watch the announcements of the final candidates within The Cabaret.
The announcement of the 10 finalists will be live streamed on the Zips Digital Network through GoZips.com.
A final contest winner will be named on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The selected fan will work directly with Zips' football head coach Joe Moorhead to help design the plays that open the game — a first-of-its-kind experience for the Akron program.
Fans who haven't entered can still purchase season tickets online until the contest deadline at 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
