Jordan Gant Named to the Maxwell Award List

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron running back Jordan Gant was named to the preseason Maxwell Award on August 3, as announced by the Maxwell Football Club.
Named to the Phil Steele and Athlon Sports preseason All-MAC teams, Gant was named to the All-MAC second team in 2025. Gant capped his first season at Akron as the first 1,000-yard rusher since Dennis Kennedy ran for 1,321 yards in 2008. Gant finished the season with 1,032 yards, averaging 86.0 yards per game and 4.8 yards per carry. He registered three games of 150 yards or more, including a career-high 176-yard performance against Central Michigan, where he was awarded the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week accolades. In addition, Gant was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week for a 161-yard, three-touchdown performance against Duquesne and added a 153-yard effort against UMass with two touchdowns. Gant recorded six rushing TDs and one receiving TD for the season. He registered nine receptions and 48 yards receiving in 2025.

The Maxwell Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses college football's most prestigious awards. The NCFAA's 25 awards have honored more than 900 recipients since 1935. This season, 12 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
