Hannah Plybon, Women's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio – Senior Hannah Plybon (Orrville, Ohio) has been tabbed the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Month, presented by The University of Akron, for December 2016.
Plybon averaged a team-best 18.5 points and 5.8 rebounds en route to leading the Zips to an 5-3 mark in December. She connected on nearly 38 percent (.375) of her shots from the field and at a 33.8-percent clip beyond the arc. She led the team in defensive rebounds (39) and total rebounds (46) and rated third in assists (16) and steals (5).
Plybon directed Akron to road victories at Winthrop, Youngstown State, Eastern Kentucky and Georgia State pouring in 10, 18, 20 and 25 points, respectively.
She registered her first career double-double with an 18-point, 10-rebound effort in an overtime win over the Penguins, while also adding her second double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds in a setback versus Elon.
In a setback at Western Michigan in the Mid-American Conference opener, she scored 14 points, including making a trio of three pointers to become Akron’s all-time leader in triples with 271 and counting.
On the season, Plybon is averaging 19.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest and is shooting just under 40 percent (.397) from the field and 37.1 percent from distance.
