Freshman left-hander Lexie Handley (Mogadore, Ohio) was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by The University of Akron, on Feb. 20.
Additionally, Handley was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week for the East Division.
On the weekend, Handley went a perfect 3-0 in the circle, helping the Zips to a 4-1 record and four consecutive wins at Alabama State's Black & Gold Tournament. Handley threw 18.1 innings, including two complete games. She struck out 16 batters and walked four.
The MAC honor is the first of her collegiate career. She is the first Zip to earn MAC honors this season.
