Phillips Racks Up Three Hits in Akron's Loss to Eastern Michigan

YPSILANTI, Mich. -Â The Akron Zips got a boost from fKelton Phillips, who totaled three hits in a 6-2 loss to the Eastern Michigan Eagles Sunday.
In addition to his three hits, Phillips had a double and two RBIÂ to lead the Zips. Â Austin Lafferty furnished a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-2 with a double.
Trieg Matthews (2-1) got the ball to start for Akron (10-12, ) and took the loss. Landon Vandegrift was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing one hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got on the scoreboard first, starting in the third inning. Akron scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Phillips. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Eastern Michigan scored six times over the remaining six innings to grab the 6-2 win.
