Scott Named MAC Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron guard Shammah Scott was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, March 2.

Shooting above 70 percent from the field and 88 percent from deep, Shammah Scott was a decisive factor in the Akron Zips' 2-0 week. Scott went 12-of17 (.706) from the field and 8-of-9 (.889) from deep this past week. Against Kent State on Friday, he went a perfect 5-of-5 from long range, along with a spotless 4-of-4 from the free throw line, to contribute to a 23-point outburst to lead the Zips to a 92-70 victory over the Golden Flashes on national television. Tuesday saw Scott drop 13 points on a 5-of-8 shooting night that included a 3-of-4 mark from deep. He also added two rebounds and three assists in a 99-85 win over Buffalo.

Akron hits the road to battle Central Michigan on Tuesday, March 3, for a 7 p.m. start.
