Strong Efforts Highlight Start to Weekend Meets for Akron Track and Field

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team registered four victories and 13 top five performances on Friday at the Windy City Invitational and Doug Raymond Invitational.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt senior Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) eclipsed 13-3.50 (4.05m) to win the women's pole vault.
• Redshirt sophomore Jeffrey Usman (Warri, Nigeria) and senior Trae Burns (Louisville, Ky.) went 1-2 in the men's long jump with marks of 23-8.25 (7.22m) and 23-4.75 (7.13m), respectively.
• Redshirt senior Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio) won the men's weight throw with a career-best throw of 66-3.25 (20.20m).
• Redshirt senior Brook Boes (Tiffin, Ohio) bested the field in the women's weight throw with a mark of 65-5 (19.94m).
• Sophomore Kaden Rambatt (Sharon, Wis.) finished second in the men's pole vault eclipsing 16-7.50 (5.07m).
• Sophomore Sophia Spencer (Medina, Ohio) placed second in the women's 5,000 meters in a career-best time of 18:37.71.
• Freshman Abigael Kiplagat (Eldama Ravine, Kenya) finished second in the women's 5,000 meters in a career-best time of 16:35.76.
• Freshman Jackline Nanjala (Kitale, Kenya) placed second in the women's 400 meters in a career-best time of 54.19.
