AKRON, Ohio - No. 16 Army edged the No. 14 University of Akron rifle team on Senior Day on Saturday (Feb. 14) as the Black Knights bested the Zips, 4706–4700, at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range.
Senior Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) led all competitors in smallbore, air rifle, and combined scoring with marks of 590, 595, and 1185, respectively.
Contributing to the season-high smallbore score of 2341 were Siek; senior Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) and freshmen Kathleen Moran (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Matthew Kimball (Pineville, La.) with 586, 584 and 581 scores, respectively.
In air rifle, the Zips were led by Siek, while Kimball, redshirt-senior Joey Hahn (Middle Grove, N.Y.), and Paddock added scores of 591, 587, and 586 to finish with a 2359 total.
The Zips honored Hahn, redshirt senior Sally Reeke (Clifton, Va.) along with Siek and Paddock during Senior Day festivities following the match.
Akron returns to competition hosting Mount Aloysius and Schreiner in the NCAA Qualifier at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range on Saturday (Feb. 21) at 9:00 a.m.
