KENT, Ohio — The Akron women's soccer team dropped to Kent State, 2-1, on the road.

The Zips did strike first 10 minutes into the match on a Callee DalBon free kick that went through the Golden Flash goalkeeper's hands for the earlier 1-0 lead.

However, it was all Kent State from there as they scored 10 minutes later and then tacked on another in the 31st minute.

The Golden Flashes outshot the Zips, 19-2, in the period. Akron's only shot for nearly the entire first half was DalBon's free kick until Hattie Yugovich got one off in the 39th minute.

The Zips' defense improved in the second half, as no goals were scored in the stanza for either side. Kent State managed only five shots, but Akron totaled only two once more.

Sara Bower totaled 12 saves — her second highest mark of the season — while DalBon had two shots. Only three combined corner kicks occurred all match.
