Akron's Garretson Set to Compete at USATF Indoor Championships

AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron redshirt senior pole vaulter Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) is set to battle for United States supremacy in the discipline as he competes at the USATF Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb. 22) at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
Twelve competitors are set to vie for the national title in the event starting at 4 p.m. Olympian and former Akron All-American Matt Ludwig won the event in 2020.
Garretson owns the No. 2 mark in the NCAA this season eclipsing 18-10.75 (5.76m) at Doc Hale Invitational on Feb. 7. His effort stands as the third-best jump by an American in the world this year as the No. 16 mark in the world overall in 2025.
