AKRON, Ohio - A late penalty kick lifted Temple to a 1-0 triumph past the University of Akron men's soccer team on Saturday (Sept. 14) at FirstEnergy Stadium.
How it Happened
The two sides battled through a scoreless opening half with the Zips posting an 11-2 edge in shots, including 3-0 on goal.
Akron had multiple strong scoring chances in the box in the second half, but were unable to capitalize before a penalty kick was awarded to Temple at the 85:46 mark.
Lukas Egarter converted the scoring chance for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
The Zips recorded 27 shots in the loss, nine of them on goal. Akron held Temple to only four shots with just one shot on goal
Game Notes
- Redshirt senior Emil Jaaskelainen (Bolton, England) recorded a game-high 10 shots, including three on goal for Akron.
