Akron Unveils 2024 Women's Soccer Schedule

2024 AKRON WOMEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE
AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron women's soccer team released a challenging 2024 fall schedule, third-year head coach Jen Simonetti announced today.
In 2024, the Zips' 11-match home schedule features a trip to FirstEnergy Stadium from NCAA Tournament participant and 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament champion Ohio.

Akron is set to return nine starters in 2024, including sophomore Sara Bower (Cincinnati, Ohio), senior Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio), junior Emma King (Akron, Ohio), sophomores Hannah Langstaff (Washington, Ill.) and Jordanne Oberhaus (Wadsworth, Ohio), senior Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio), sophomore Anna Simmons (Manassas, Va.), senior Katie Stafford (Gahanna, Ohio) and sophomore Rachel Wenzel (Akron, Ohio).
The Zips will also be bolstered by the return of a key 2022 contributor who missed the 2023 season due to injury in senior Penelope Cuirinier (Mionnay, France).Â
The Zips take to the pitch for the initial time on Aug. 6 when Akron hosts Dayton in the first of two exhibition matches before traveling to St. Bonaventure (Aug. 11) to round out the exhibition campaign.
The Zips will kick off its 24th season of intercollegiate women's soccer traveling to Iona (Aug. 15) for a non-conference showdown with the Gaels before visiting Eastern Illinois (Aug. 18). The home opener for the Zips will see Akron battle Oakland (Aug. 22) before closing out the month of August welcoming Wright State (Aug. 25) to FirstEnergy Stadium.
The month of September includes a non-conference contest at Robert Morris (Sept. 5) before back-to-back home tilts versus Cleveland State (Sept. 12) and Saint Francis (Sept. 15).

The Zips commence their MAC schedule welcoming Buffalo to FirstEnergy Stadium on Sept. 19. Akron also entertains Ball State (Sept. 26) on its home pitch during the month, while traveling to Central Michigan (Sept. 22) and Toledo (Sept. 29).

The Zips kick off the month of October hosting Ohio (Oct. 6) before visiting Miami (Oct. 10). Additionally, Akron hosts Northern Illinois (Oct. 13) and Bowling Green (Oct. 27) at FirstEnergy Stadium, while facing road tests at Western Michigan (Oct. 18) and rival Kent State (Oct. 24).

The Zips close out their league slate hosting Eastern Michigan (Oct. 31).
The conference tournament is scheduled to begin on Nov. 3 at campus sites before the top-remaining seed will host the league semifinal and championship matches on Nov.7 and Nov. 10, respectively.
Single-game tickets for the 2024 campaign will go on sale at a later date.
