AKRON, Ohio --The Akron baseball team fell 10-4 to begin its series with Western Michigan on Friday, April 26.

Sam Seeker went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a walk while Charlie Schebler hit a three-run home run. Jack Poist had a double and came around to score as well.

Spencer Atkins (1-7) took the loss on the mound for Akron (9-32, 4-15). Anthony Fett went two shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking none and striking out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Akron got an RBI single from Michael Sprockett, scoring Poist from second base.

The Broncos then tied the ballgame at one before the Zips came back to reclaim their advantage in the fourth inning. Akron scored three runs, all of them coming on a three-run homer off the bat of Schebler, scoring Sprockett and Seeker, which brought the score to 4-1 in favor of the Zips. The Zips were unable to hold the lead, as Western Michigan scored nine times over the remaining five innings to grab the 10-4 win.

» Akron's highest scoring inning was the fourth, when it pushed three runs across.
» Akron left 13 runners stranded on base in the loss.
» Akron pitchers faced 45 Western Michigan hitters in the game, allowing nine ground balls and 12 fly balls while striking out six.
