Zips fall to Monmouth, 3-2

SPARTANBURG, SC --The Akron Zips took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 3-2 to the Monmouth Hawks Friday.
Senior Tiffany Stevens led the way offensively for the Zips, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a home run and an RBI. Freshman Lily Sullivan compiled a standout performance as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Zips scored their only two runs in the third inning, including one on a solo shot from Stevens. Akron was unable to hold the lead, as Monmouth scored twice over the remaining four innings to grab the 3-2 win.
