Henderson and Perkins to Join Akron Basketball in 2025-26
November 15 | Men's Basketball
AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's basketball program announced the addition of Josh Henderson and Tai Perkins to the Akron Basketball family as both student-athletes signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Zips during the 2025-2026 season, head coach John Groce announced.
Josh Henderson (Westerville, Ohio) is a 6'5'' guard from Westerville Central High School who also played for Phenom United.
"Josh is a dynamic guard with elite skill and athleticism that impacts the game at both ends of the floor" said Groce. "He can score from all three levels and uses his size and length to play above the rim while guarding multiple positions defensively."
Tai Perkins (Westerville, Ohio) is a 5'11'' guard from Westerville North High School. He played AAU basketball for Nova Village.
"Tai is a shifty and explosive guard that is capable of scoring efficiently while also being able to make others better via the pass," said Groce. "He fits our fast and unselfish style of play well."
"Most important, both Josh and Tai fit the culture we have worked so hard to create and cultivate," said Groce. "Both of them are Akron Guys on and off the court who care deeply about the game, others and winning." "We are beyond excited to have Josh, Tai and their respective families join ours."
