AKRON, Ohio – The 18th-rated University of Akron men's soccer team closes the month of October traveling to Milwaukee, Wis., for a showdown with Marquette on Saturday (Oct. 26). The 8 p.m. ET match with the Golden Eagles will be broadcast on FloSports.

Redshirt senior Emil Jaaskelainen (Bolton, England) leads the Zips in goals (18), assists (7), points (43), shots (72), shots on goal (34) and game-winners (4), while redshirt senior Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah), senior Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal (Carbondale, Ill.), redshirt senior Victor Gaulmin (Guipavas, France), junior Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio), redshirt freshman Nathan Ferguson (Glen Carbon, Ill.) and senior Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario) have added four, three, three, two, two and two goals, respectively, to go along with Gaulmin, Jaaskelainen and Clapier owning a team-best eight, seven and seven assists, respectively, on the campaign. Redshirt junior GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) has collected 42 saves and owns a 1.07 goals against average.
Akron returns six starters in 2024, including 2023 All-BIG EAST Conference performers, seniors Jonas Buechte (Rantigen, Germany) and Henry.
The Zips will also be bolstered by the return of key 2023 contributors in Budler, Clapier, Dobrijevic, juniors Ashton Kamdem (West Chester, Ohio) and Daragh Reilly (Meath, Ireland) and Wan Kamal.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
Marquette comes into play versus the Zips on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 6-5-4 on the campaign, including 2-2-2 in the BIG EAST Conference, following a 2-2 draw at DePaul on Wednesday (Oct. 23).
Junior Mitar Mitrovic leads the Golden Eagles in goals (5) and points (11), while senior Abdoul Karim Pare paces the team in shots (25) and shots on goal (14). Freshman goalkeeper Marten Brink has posted 46 saves en route to owning a 0.94 goals against average with five shutouts.
The Golden Eagles are ranked 18th in the NCAA in save percentage (.800), 28th in goals against average (.878) and 40th in shutout percentage (.400). Individually, Brink is rated 26th in shutouts (5), 28th in save percentage (.818) and 39th in goals against average (.937).
