AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's soccer team got a hat trick from redshirt senior Emil Jaaskelainen (Bolton, England) in a 3-2 Senior Night victory over Villanova on Saturday (Oct. 12) at FirstEnergy Stadium.

How it Happened

Akron assumed a 1-0 lead when Jaaskelainen scored his 12th goal of the season in the 10th minute (9:22) off an assist from redshirt senior Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah).

Jaaskelainen connected on a successful penalty kick at the 11:47 mark to extend the Zips' lead to 2-0.

Akron went ahead 3-0 on Jaaskelainen's 29th-minute (28:53) goal courtesy of assists from Clapier and senior Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal (Carbondale, Ill.).

The Wildcats made it a 3-1 game with a 77th-minute goal (76:16) from Jason Bouregy, assisted by Jordan Canica and Jorge Garcia.

Villanova capped the scoring on the evening on Garcia's goal in the 90th minute (89:20), assisted by Canica and Bouregy.

Seven Seniors Honored

Akron honored seniors Jonas Buechte (Rantingen, Germany), Clapier, Victor Gaulmin (Guipavas, France), Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario), Jaaskelainen, Wan Kamal and Beto Ydrach (Orlando, Fla.) in pregame ceremonies.

Game Notes

The Zips outshot the Wildcats, 24-12, including 9-3 in shots on goal.
Jaaskelainen registered a game-high 12 shots, including five on net.
Redshirt junior GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) recorded one save for the Zips out of 12 total Wildcats shots.
