Baker and Johnson each notch double-doubles in Zips 3-1 loss to Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, OH --Lauren Baker and Faith Johnson both put up double-doubles, but the Akron volleyball team fell to the Cleveland State Vikings 3-1 (24-26, 17-25, 25-21, 21-25) Wednesday on the road at Woodling Gym.
The non-conference match loss dropped Akron to 3-4 on the season.
The Zips were led by the double-doubles from Baker, who had 14 kills and 14 digs, and Johnson, who had 16 kills and 17 digs. Ellen Kinnaird added eight kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Vanessa Del Real chipped in for 20 digs to go with three blocks from Kinnaird.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Zips fell in a close first set, losing 26-24 in a game that was tied four times and had three lead changes.
SET 2 | Akron lost set two 25-17, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Zips lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | After falling in the opening two sets, Akron rallied to win the third set and make it a 2-1 match. The Zips won the set the third set 25-21. Akron took the lead for good at 18-17after coming back from a five-point deficit, the Vikings largest lead of the set. This came in a set that featured nine ties and six lead changes.
SET 4 | Akron couldn't keep the momentum and fell in the fourth set 25-21 to drop the match. The Zips came up short in a back-and-forth set, losing in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied 15 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way.
