Akron Women's Soccer Begins Preparations for 2023 Campaign

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron women's soccer squad under the leadership of second-year head coach Jen Simonetti opened its preseason preparations for the 2023 campaign on Tuesday, Aug. 1, as the squad went through the Zips' first training session of the season.
The squad welcomed 13 newcomers into the fold as the Zips went through a 90-minute training session on the Shrank Practice Field.
Akron is set to return 10 starters in 2023, including 2022 All-Mid-American Conference performers, junior Ella Hadley (Concord, Ohio) and sophomore Emma King (Akron, Ohio), who garnered Second-Team All-MAC and MAC All-Freshman Team accolades, respectively. Additionally, a quartet of team captains in senior Bailee Bowers (Dublin, Ohio) and juniors Clara Knoepke (Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany), Morgan Pentz (Broadview Heights, Ohio) and Katie Stafford (Gahanna, Ohio) returns for Akron.
The Zips take to the pitch for the initial time on Aug. 8 when Akron visits Saint Francis in the first of two exhibition matches before hosting to St. Bonaventure on Aug. 13 to round out the exhibition campaign.
The Zips commence their 23rd season of intercollegiate soccer at Cleveland State on Aug. 17 before hosting Robert Morris in Akron's home opener on Aug. 24.

Union streets) during our business hours (Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
