Season-Best Performances Headline Zips' Efforts to Open Jesse Owens Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Akron men's and women's track and field team garnered a pair of second-place finishes from redshirt sophomores William Gross (Newfane, N.Y.) and Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) headlined the Zips' efforts on the opening day of the Jesse Owens Classic on Friday (April 21).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Harkelroad recorded a season-best time of 51.29 to place second in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
• Gross placed second in the men's hammer with a mark of 207-11 (63.39m), while redshirt junior Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished fifth with a throw of 197-2 (60.10m).
• Redshirt junior Laurel Bristow (Pittsburgh, Pa.) registered a mark of 129-4 (39.43m) to place fifth in the women's javelin.
