Akron Throwers Earn Strong Marks at Cherry Blossom Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio – The University of Akron men's and women's team posted eight career-best marks as part of 13 overall top-five finishes to highlight the Zips' efforts at the Cherry Blossom Invitational hosted by Ohio on Saturday (April 15).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt junior Laurel Bristow (Pittsburgh, Pa.) won the women's javelin with a mark of 139-1 (42.39m).
• Sophomore Lane Graham (Killbuck, Ohio) captured the men's shot put with a mark of 53-7.50 (16.34m), while freshman Josiah Cox (New Franklin, Ohio) finished third with a mark of 51-7.75 (15.74m).
• Redshirt junior Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) won the men's hammer with a mark of 20-16 (61.42m), while redshirt senior Milton Wilson (Streetsboro, Ohio) and Graham added second- and third-place finishes with marks of 201-0 (61.28m) and 192-11 (58.82m).
• Redshirt sophomore JaMeire Robinson (Youngstown, Ohio) tallied a career-best mark of 162-2 (49.44m) to place second in the men's discus, while redshirt sophomore Davis Hedrick (Norwalk, Ohio) finished third with a mark of 159-10 (48.73m).
• Redshirt freshman Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas) placed fourth in the women's hammer with a career-best throw of 157-1 (47.89m), while adding fifth-place performances in the women's shot put and javelin with career-best marks of 41-1.75 (12.54m) and 107-11 (32.89m), respectively.
