AKRON, Ohio – On a morning when University of Akron lacrosse senior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) collected her 100th career goal, it was Virginia Tech that ruled the scoreboard handing the Zips a 23-4 setback on Saturday, March 18, at Stile Athletics Field House.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Hokies netted the first goal of the match before Keifer netted the equalizer at the12:53 mark of the opening quarter. The tally represented the 100th career goal in Keifer's Akron tenure.
• Virginia Tech responded with three unanswered goals before senior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Kylie Harris (Lake Norman, N.C.) at the 10:02 mark.
• Kiefer notched her second goal of the tilt converting a successful free position shot at the 5:50 mark of the second quarter.
• Freshman Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) capped the Zips' scoring efforts in the match with her first career tally at the 11:48 mark of the third quarter.
