AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team got off to a strong start on the opening night of the 19th Annual Akron Invitational on Friday, Feb. 3 at the Stile Athletics Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Redshirt junior Robert Artrip (Independence, Ohio) stands in first place in the men's heptathlon with a four-event cumulative score of 2,686. He posted career-best marks of 45-4 (13.82m), 7.24 and 20-7.75 (6.29m) to place first, second and second, respectively, in the shot put, 60 meters and long jump.
• Redshirt sophomore Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) placed fifth in the women's 5,000 meters in a career-best time of 18:09.54
• Sophomore Kayla Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) placed 10th in the women's pentathlon with a five-event cumulative score of 2,691.

UP NEXT:
Final-day competition at the 19th Annual Akron Invitational concludes on Saturday, Feb. 4 starting at 11 a.m. at the Stile Athletics Field House.
